Manchester's Funky Soul Band
ABOUT US
-
For the last few years Atlanta Soul has been building a reputation on the live scene, playing at festivals and concert halls throughout the country.
-
The band has played alongside some of the biggest names in rock and soul performing at the Heineken Music Festivals in Leeds and Preston, appearing on the same bill as Mike and the Mechanics, Squeeze, Desmond Dekker and Aswad to a crowd of 70,000 at Roundhay Park in Leeds.
-
They have supported such greats as Geno Washington, Sister Sledge, Ruby Turner and Heatwave, and recently shared the billing with Anthony Costa from Blue at a soul event in Manchester.
-
As well as music venues and festivals, the band has also played at soul weekenders, scooter rallies, weddings, private parties and corporate events.

-
They were invited by the BBC to play at The Manchester Commonwealth Games closing party.
-
They were the backing band for American Soul legend Sidney Barnes when he came to the UK. He was a songwriter for Tamla Motown Records and the founder of the ground-breaking funk pioneers Parliament/Funkadelic with George Clinton. They played at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool with Sidney at a soul weekender, performing a set of his classic Northern Soul songs such as Standing on Solid Ground and I Hurt on the Other Side.
-
Atlanta Soul played at Old Trafford for the England cricket team celebrating the Ashes victory, and Freddie Flintoff even joined them on stage to sing a couple of numbers.
-
They were the headline act in the Tower Ballroom at a major music event in Blackpool, The Xmas Tree Ball with a crowd of 3,000 and played for a Key 103 Radio Station music event in Harvey Nichols in Manchester.
-
The band has composed part of the soundtrack to the movie, Car Park, which has been written and produced by Bill McCoid, a well recognised Manchester based script writer. The film was shown at The Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA.
-
They were asked to take part in the Manchester Soul Festival at the Printworks in Manchester in August 2019 and took to the stage at the Hard Rock Café, and were then asked to be a part of the festival again in Summer 2020, which has since been postponed due to the covid pandemic
